The Project
This APCO service station is the first to be built in SA and includes an Anderson’s Supermarket, 24/7 café with commercial kitchen, offices, amenities & cool rooms. The pumping station contains 8 fuel pumps with overhead canopy. Two retail tenancies were also constructed on the 5,500sqm site, along with carparking & landscaping.
Significant structural redesign was required to overcome poor ground conditions (cavities & potential sinkholes). A large concrete box section was constructed to span this; effectively a large concrete tunnel running the full length of the site. The building structure then required suspended slabs married to traditional raft slab/footings, precast panels around the building perimeter, along with up to 4m high concrete sleeper retaining walls to boundaries to achieve the levels required across the previously sloping site.
