Record Crane Numbers in Adelaide
Premier Peter Malinauskas makes a rooftop announcement at Uniting on Second, Bowden.
The rooftop of Uniting on Second is the perfect place to view the record crane numbers on Adelaide’s skyline!
With over double the activity of the next best performing capital city, South Australia is currently experiencing a record boom in residential and commercial construction. The majority of this boom is being led by housing projects such as the 70 affordable social housing apartments we’re delivering for UnitingSA in the Bowden precinct. Premier Peter Malinauskas and Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Nick Champion, were on site to acknowledge this construction milestone for SA and view the cranes first hand from the rooftop. They also took the opportunity to tour through one of the completed apartments and see firsthand the high level of finishes being used throughout.
We’ve entered the final stages of construction of these apartments with interior fit out well underway and the community rooftop garden to be installed. This building is the first in Australia to adopt Kennett’s BAMB (Buildings as Material Banks) strategy promoting circularity in the construction industry and is targeting a 5 star Green Star rating.
Kennett’s General Manager Anthony Carbone, speaking at the event said “Total building activity for 2026 is expected to be just under $20B which is a record and speaks directly to the amount of cranes in South Australia. It’s an exciting time to be in the construction industry.”
