Recently Kennett’s General Manager, Anthony Carbone shared his story with the Born to Build team…
“Anthony Carbone generously shared his trade ‘origin story’ with us, and it’s testimony to how you never quite know where something is going to lead you.
Anthony’s journey in construction began as a concreting tradesperson, delivering concrete work in the commercial sector and later operating his own concreting business.
A turn of fate with an accident forced him to sell the business assets to focus on tertiary training, initially at TAFE, and later University. Anthony is now leading one of South Australia’s oldest and most trusted commercial construction businesses, Kennett Builders.
Currently he is working on an Economic and Logistics Study into an inaugural ‘Buildings as Materials Banks’ with Green Industries SA, supported by industry, academia and government that he believes could transform the construction industry. This is not the first time Anthony has partnered with Universities in research projects and he has jointly published academic papers on sustainability.
Anthony has also lobbied together with Master Builders SA for the creation of a Certificate III in concreting which we were successful in creating. None of this would have been possible had he not chosen to take up a trade!
