Kennett Builders successfully refreshed a 100+ year old brand identity - a change for the 'Better'
“It’s not easy changing something you’ve literally grown up with” says Executive Director, James Kennett. But that’s exactly what the company did when they decided to refresh their brand identity.
The new look Kennett logo reflects the innovative and contemporary direction the company has taken under the fourth-generation leadership of Scott and James Kennett. The logo pays homage to the historic green, an identity recognised since 1914, and embraces the company’s progressive approach to business.
This new chapter for Kennett wasn’t only about refreshing the brand identity, but included the refinement of internal systems, processes and procedures and the incorporation of new initiatives and programs from internal feedback at all levels of the organisation. Kennett also sought external feedback from clients, referrers and other stakeholders. “We always want to be better. That is the underlying ethos of every Kennett staff member… we deliver projects that exceed the expectations of clients, but why stop there? We want to be better in every way” says Managing Director, Scott Kennett.
The new tagline ‘Builder of Better’ was born. Evident in the refresh rationale, this new chapter for Kennett is focused on better. It’s simple but true; a benchmark for commercial construction. Better buildings, better service, better processes, better initiatives, better policies, better results. Kennett is the Builder of Better.

We are excited to be propelling into a new chapter of Kennett – the same excellent service that we have delivered for more than 100 years, with a look that better reflects our contemporary, innovative and dynamic approach to construction” said Executive Director, Corporate and Strategy, James Kennett.
Adding to an already big year for the South Australian icon, Kennett was awarded the Master Builder of the Year ‘Commercial Builder 2021’. A great testament to their high-quality standards, culture and outstanding team who always deliver better. “We thank the consultants, subcontractors and suppliers who work with us on every project to achieve the excellence our clients deserve. And, most importantly, our sincere gratitude to our trusted clients who provide us with the opportunity to deliver magnificent projects.” The Kennett team are honoured to have won this award in 2008 and 2014, and now again in 2021.
In addition to Commercial Builder 2021, Kennett collected several other awards including Commercial fit-out up to $5m, Commercial / Industrial $10-$20m, Commercial / Industrial up to $2m. Master Builders commented on Kennett’s successful year in commercial construction, “The projects presented this year by Kennett were of the highest quality. Their systems and processes that are diligently employed with their project management system wowed the judges as did the relationships they built and maintained with both the client and subcontractors before, during and after the build.”
