Project Completion – Limestone Coast Technical College
Local natural timbers shine through in this new regional technical college.
Recently completed for the Department of Education in SA, the Limestone Coast Technical College prepares school students for careers in primary industries, trades, health and education in the Limestone Coast region, with training designed to directly meet demand within the local region for employable skills, with graduates going into apprenticeships, employment or further study. It will offer students from Year 10 through to Year 12 an alternative career pathway way to still be able to achieve their SACE and offers short term accomodation for students outside of Mt Gambier to be able to access the programmes.
In a striking design by architects Russell & Yelland, the building features local materials including the famed Mt Gambier limestone block cladding and CLT/GLT timber from the nearby manufacturing plant, as well as intentionally exposed ceilings to showcase the building’s ‘bones’ in keeping with it’s function as a technical college.
