Redevelopment of the Pentreath Building
- Location
- Adelaide, SA
- Sector
- Education
The Project
The heritage-listed, 1935-built Pentreath building was developed into a new middle school within its senior campus, providing students with high-tech learning spaces and meeting rooms.
What we delivered
- The existing building had to be carefully stripped and then restored with multiple wings connected to the building also demolished.
- A new two-storey addition with a floor area that is greater than the existing building was then added.
- Construction detail included precast concrete, large glazed sections and Deltacore flooring.
- The building had to be complete and ready for use by the first day of the school year – there was no flexibility to extend what was already a short construction period. The project was completed ahead of schedule, despite the discovery of asbestos, as well as engineering issues (latent conditions), had on the construction program.
